The below chart is the original presentation of Trade of the Year #2 on page 203 for the April contracts.
The spread was originally presented in early December in the prerelease information email.
The updated chart shows prices through the last trading day in late April.
First notice day in April saw price a tad lower than in early December.
The volatility between early December and first notice day provided plenty of opportunity to extract profits from the position using the money management approach that is a part of the Trade of the Year suggestions even though the price was about the same at the time of first notice day.
The long leg is perceived as a precious / monetary metal while the latter is perceived as an industrial metal.
The new chart #6 shows prices for the October contracts.
As can be seen, the spread widened after last trading day for the April contracts and is deemed attractive in the October contracts.
